Solution Focused Hypnotherapy

What is Solution Focused Hypnotherapy?

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is a form of psychotherapy that combines hypnosis with solution-focused brief therapy techniques. It is used to help individuals achieve their desired outcomes and address specific issues or challenges they are facing.

The process begins with an Initial Consultation where the hypnotherapist gets to know the client, understands their concerns, and identifies their goals. This step is crucial as it sets the foundation for the subsequent sessions.

Weekly general therapy sessions involve visualisation exercises where the client mentally rehearses successful outcomes and positive behaviours. This helps reinforce positive changes and enhances the client’s confidence.

Hypnosis is induced using relaxation and guided imagery techniques. This trance-like state helps the client become more receptive to positive suggestions and allows them to access their subconscious mind.

While the client is in a hypnotic state, the hypnotherapist offers positive suggestions that align with the client’s desired outcomes and goals. These suggestions are designed to replace negative thought patterns and beliefs with more constructive and empowering ones.

Between sessions, the client may be given “homework” tasks to reinforce the therapeutic process. These tasks might include practicing relaxation techniques, noting down what’s been good about their week, or applying newly learned coping strategies in real-life situations.

During subsequent sessions, the hypnotherapist and the client review progress toward the identified goals. Any challenges or obstacles encountered along the way are addressed, and further adjustments are made to the therapy approach if necessary.

Solution-focused hypnotherapy is usually a short-term therapy, and the number of sessions can vary depending on the individual and their goals. The hypnotherapist provides ongoing support and encouragement throughout the process.
